2001 Winner of the Prestigious
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
Award at Rocky Mountain National Park!
Steven Wiseman spent 20 years
on the Island of Maui.
During that time, the true direction of his music began to
mature. A long-time environmentalist, Steven uses the beauty
of nature to inspire the music he writes. He hopes to continue
to use guitar and nature sounds to tell about the natural
wonders that surround us. Steven's main objective with his
music is to promote peace in our environment,
in our society and in our minds.
He has written, recorded and
produced 10 CD's. With almost
magician like ability, Steven's solo acoustic guitar playing
provides the listener with sounds that relax,
inspire and stir the emotions.
As a long time friend of the late John Denver, he became very
sensitive to the importance of the preservation of our earth.
Over one year's time, he recorded the various nature sounds
across the seasons within Rocky Mountain National Park and
produced a CD that specifically captures the park's natural
beauty titled "Welcome to Rocky Mountain National Park."
He is the first musician to perform for the Interpretive and
Education programs at Rocky Mountain National Park's
outdoor amphitheaters and their indoor visitors centers. He
has donated hundreds of hours the past seven years sharing his
music and raising awareness about the sounds of nature.
Among Steven's other works is an audio postcard CD called
"Maui ... From the Beginning" where it took him over four
years to record the nature sounds of Maui, and a co-created and
co-produced a CD titled, "Tribute... To Colorado and Friends"
that includes:
"Ballad of The Big Thompson Canyon,
" (about Colorado's devastating
Big Thompson Canyon flood of 1976 on the eve of Colorado's 100th birthday).
"Spirit of the River,"
(for Ft. Collins, Colorado's
Cache la Poudre River).
"Gentle Voice from Aspen," (a
tribute to John Denver).
Steven has been involved in numerous benefit nationwide.
